Company History
Providing Groundbreaking Offshore Solutions for over a Decade
4D Nav was founded in 2008 by a team of industry professionals with the common goal of introducing the marine industry to a new generation of real-time spatial software that utilized the latest software development tools.
4D Nav's NavView offshore spatial software, along with the professional and operational background of the company's personnel, helped it secure major projects providing engineering and analysis for complex offshore operations. Since its inception, 4D Nav has enjoyed several remarkable achievements.
2009
4D Nav introduced its signature NavView offshore spatial software.
2011
4D Nav started providing offshore quality control services for major corporations.
2017
4D Nav introduced its industry-leading AUV and USV mission planning and monitoring software.
2019
4D Nav introduced its remote offshore solutions for marine professionals.
2021
4D Nav fielded its first Command and Control solution.

QHSE is a top priority in all 4D Nav projects and operations. The company's leadership team works proactively to create and maintain safe work environments anywhere it provides services.
Safety training is provided for all employee and any person representing 4D Nav is responsible for abiding by the company's QHSE policies.
At any time, we hold our employees responsible for following 4D Nav's and our client's QHSE policies.
Risk/Assessment/Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Job Safety Analysis to identify, eliminate and control hazardous work conditions.
Hazard Observation and Communication (HOC) training for all employees to teach and enforce critical thinking with regards to unsafe work conditions or practices.
ISNetworld (ISN) membership provides our team with up-to-date information regarding health, safety, regulatory compliance, insurance, employee training, and competencies.

Managing Partner
Stewart Cannon

Stewart Cannon founded 4D Nav and today, he's responsible for developing the company's strategy and overseeing financial processes. His offshore experience is vast, and he's completed projects on all six habitable continents as well as spent more than two years working north of the Arctic Circle.
Mr. Cannon graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1980. In the years since, his career has been filled with remarkable achievements. Mr. Cannon positioned the first floating rig to drill an offshore well in the American Beaufort Sea, and another in the Chukchi Sea. His body of work also includes the development of three generations of real-time positioning software, as well as ownership stakes in several well-known survey companies, and work as a high-level executive with Thales GeoSolutions.
President
Kenneth Richter

Kenneth Richter is in charge of operations and growth for 4D Nav. His experience in the oil and gas industry spans 20 years with offshore surveying being his primary focus for more than 15 years.
Mr. Richter attended Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi while simultaneously working as a completions engineer in the south Texas oil fields. From there, he moved into the offshore geotechnical field, starting as a survey technician and working his way up to project coordinator, project manager, and eventually, president.
Chief Technical Officer
Kevin Sorensen

As the Chief Technical Officer at 4D Nav, Kevin Sorensen overlooks software engineering, architecture, and design. He has over two decades of experience in the design and implementation of complex software and hardware systems with specialization in geomatics, video, and IP networks.
Mr. Sorensen holds a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction in Geomatics Engineering from the University of Calgary, as well as a Geomatics and Surveying Engineering Technology diploma from Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
Chief Revenue Officer
Cory Goodyear

Cory Goodyear is Responsible for overseeing and optimizing all revenue-generating activities within the company, including sales, pricing, marketing, and customer support, with the goal of maximizing revenue and driving business growth through effective strategies and operations.
Mr. Goodyear holds a Diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology from Cabot College. Over the past 28 years, he has worked with several companies, including Schlumberger, Fugro, UTEC, Sulmara, and Subsea 7. He has held various leadership positions, such as the Regional Director for Europe and Africa, as well as for the Americas at UTEC, and the Regional Director for the Americas at Sulmara. Most recently, he served as the Survey Operations Manager at Subsea 7 for the Gulf of Mexico.
